Rick has over 20 years of leadership experience across healthcare, life sciences, and the United States Navy. He has deep expertise in health plan and pharmacy benefits payer, provider, and technology solutions in both government and commercial programs. Rick is an experienced leader in business transformation and has a track record that spans product development, corporate strategy, corporate development, operations, risk management, and process improvement.

Before joining Convey, Rick held leadership roles at CVS Health (Aetna & CVS Caremark) and Alexion Pharmaceuticals (now AstraZeneca). He also advised Fortune 500 clients as a management consultant for Ernst & Young (EY) and Acquis Consulting Group. Before his civilian career, Rick served as a US Navy Officer and combat pilot in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Mr. Hess holds a master’s degree in business administration from the Rady School of Management at the University of California San Diego and his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Outside of work, Rick is an active community member and enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.
